John Cena Dead? Wrestler Becomes Victim of Social Media Death Hoax

john cena
ohn Cena is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the professional wrestler didn't die. He's just the victim of a social media death hoax. John Cena is just fine.
Some might have noticed a message on Facebook or Twitter saying that Cena died from a head injury while perfecting a wrestling stunt with WWE wrestler, Dwayne Johnson The Rock.
The rumor is false. This rumor has been going around for months yet it won't die, even though Cena is still alive and well. The message about this death is a spam message on Facebook, so if you see it, don't click the link.
Others may have come across a story saying Cena died in a car crash. Global Associated News has a story that says "John Cena died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - January 1, 2013."
There are many details to the story which makes it easier to believe, but the story is fake. Global Associated News creates fake death reports.
A message in fine print at the bottom of the site reads, "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."
John Cena is just fine. He just appeared on RAW and he announced that he'll be entering the 2013 Royal Rumble match and he promised to become a WWE champion this year.
However some fans on Twitter got word of Cena's fake death and have taken to Twitter to mourn and question the loss. Some examples of tweets include:
"My sister just told me that John Cena died?!"
"I can't believe John Cena died"
"RIP John Cena - too early for this guy to go."
"wtf! I just saw a post on facebook that john cena is dead??!! Is it true? :( "
Cena isn't the only celebrity to be killed off by the Internet. Dozens of celebrities became victims of a death hoax in 2012.
